    Job Summary


    The Opportunity Analyst supports the success of the company by identifying new opportunities and opportunity gaps by reviewing our competitive position, local sourcing, report reviews and analysis. The position is responsible for reporting findings and making recommendations for next steps.


    Competitive Analysis:

    • Pull system data to determine proper items and units of measure for comparisons
    • Perform competitive price checks for all categories in all regions and with internet retailers
    • Run reports and analysis against competitive pricing data and provide to Management with recommendations for changes as applicable including regional changes
    • Run reports and analysis on our previous promotions to find impact and provide recommendations to Management
    • Compare competitive ad pricing to our ad pricing and report results to Management
    • Work with Opportunity Analyst Manager, Business Analyst, Purchasing Analyst and IS to develop better tools for gathering, storing and reporting current competitive information and analysis


    Trend and Gap monitoring:

    • Report to category managers merchandizing trends at the competition (as applicable)
    • Monitor trend setting websites and periodicals for applicable product publicity (Dr. Oz, Women’s World, Natural Food Merchandiser, etc.) and work with category managers to ensure we have appropriate products and quantities to maximize on trends
    • Review Spins, UNFI, and other data for opportunities (new, seasonal, trend items) and pass on relevant data to category managers for further action
    • Work with stores and category managers to identify and set up local opportunities to enhance our store sales with regional and community specific products as appropriate

    Education, Skills & and Experience:


    • 4 year degree in business preferred
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a corporate purchasing or business analysis position
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze results 
    • Strong relationship building, negotiations, and influencing skills
    • Excellent written and communication skills are required
    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
    • Minimum intermediate level Microsoft Office skills, Expert Excel
    • Travel regularly up to 25%
