    The Safety/Loss Prevention Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting Natural Grocers' initiatives and assists the Direct Supervisor in protecting the assets of the stores and the company through implementation of inventory and asset recovery programs including internal and external theft reduction programs.


    • Understands and maintains strict compliance with the law and NGVC policies concerning loss prevention.
    • Assists in implementing and training store management on the proper detection and handling of shoplifters following established company security guidelines and legal statutes.
    • Assists in implementing and training store management on the proper detection and handling of employee theft following established company security guidelines and legal statutes.  Includes implementation of random checks of employee bags and packages exiting the store to ensure that all articles have been purchased
    • Participates in internal and external theft investigations.
    • Ensures security cameras are in place and functional. Reviews security tapes when needed.
    • Maintains security logs, reports and documents all security incidents as required
    • Reviewing video, keeping logs, and handling repairs regularly
    • Reviews shrink reports and gross margin analysis and proactively drives loss prevention programs for the store
    • Provides the Direct Supervisor with draft loss prevention policies, procedures and programs for review and approval
    • Investigates both customer and employee accidents and injuries
    • Maintains extreme confidentiality of all related information.
    • This position will have minimal travel when necessary

    Education, Skills & Experience:


    • 1-2 years previous retail loss/asset prevention experience
    • Basic knowledge of progressive loss prevention methods and shrink strategies
    • Must possess a friendly and professional demeanor
    • Must be detail oriented
    • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all situations
    • Ability to operate photographic and video equipment
    • Able to work independently and make quick, sound decisions
    • Able to problem solve or troubleshoot situations
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule. Open availability including weekends is a must
    • Must pass a background check
    • Familiar with standard PCs and business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
