    Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the production lead position is responsible for monitoring and leading 2 teams of approx. 20 employees. This position coordinates breaks and implements the daily production schedule under the direction of the Production Supervisor and keeps management informed of daily activities and significant problems. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring products are packed and labeled accurately and efficiently. This includes individual bagging, labeling, case packing and palletizing of all finished goods. This position will assist the Production Supervisor with other production related tasks, as directed. This position is also responsible for ensuring crews work under Food Safety guidelines as set forth by the company. This position must maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to co-workers and fellow team members. Candidate must be able to effectively drive change, and disseminate information in a manner that promotes organizational goals.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Receives daily production orders and distributes the work load
    • Participates in production process: Stages raw materials, packs product, labels product, and palletizes finished goods.
    • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all orders filled.
    • Ensures that all work areas are kept clean and free of debris.
    • Ensures all Food Safety requirements are met.
    • Ensure all processes are maintained and followed for efficiency.
    • Collects performance data to be reported to management weekly
    • Completes all necessary production documentation
    • Performs all operations in a manner that promotes safety.
    • Assists in orienting and training new / temporary employees
    • Assists in other warehouse tasks such as inventory
    • May be assigned to other warehouse duties as needed

    Qualifications

    • High School degree or equivalent is required
    • 2-5 years of experience in a food manufacturing facility required
    • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices
    • Experienced working with sanitary operating processes and knowledge of food safety/HACCP desirable
    • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing desirable
    • Knowledge of 5s (clutter free, efficient work environment) desirable
    • 2 years of experience in a Lead or supervisory position, preferred
    • Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and concisely
    • Strong communication skills working with a diverse staff required
    • Ability to detect gaps in process, and effectively communicate needs to management.
    • Ability to effectively navigate through conflict
    • Ability to learn processing equipment and effectively troubleshoot.
    • Ability to follow direction and ensure that direction is followed by team.
    • Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced team environment
    • Good attention to detail; accuracy and thoroughness is a must.
    • Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate production needs
    • Must be reliable and on time every day; excellent attendance is a must.
    • Must be able to work in seasonally warm or cool environment
    • Hand truck and/or pallet jack experience helpful
    • Willing and able to assist in other departments as needed
    • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Data Entry
    • SAP experience helpful

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs, repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Requires the use of both arms and both hands with full range of motion
    • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, twist, push and pull on a frequent basis
    • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb as needed
    • Must be able to reach overhead and away from the body
    • Must be able to walk and stand for at least 90% of the time
