Job Summary


The Systems Administrator I will work closely with other Systems Administrators and Network Administrators on the IT Infrastructure team to provide technical support for networks and systems needed in day to day operations.  This includes tasks such as: install, configure, and support of LANs and WANs, servers, VMWare, file systems, Exchange, SharePoint, SAN, and administer Windows domains.  The Sys Admin II for Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage (NGVC) will also conceive, design, test, and implement improvements to the information systems infrastructure.


The ideal candidate will come on board and immediately make an impact with projects.  The candidate should have experience with large support and migration to an Office 365 environment.  Candidate should also have experience with deployment and configuration of NGAV software such as Cylance.  


Key responsibilities include the following essential functions, but are not limited to:   

  • Support all domain components (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, etc.)
  • Windows Patch Management
    • Windows updates for store servers
    • Windows updates for store processors
    • Windows updates for HO servers
    • Windows updates for desktops and laptops
    • Windows updates for registers
    • Firmware updates
  • Antivirus (Cylance)
    • Maintain the antivirus solution for all POS systems
    • Remove viruses, malware, ransom ware, and any other identified threats from infected systems and files
    • Report on the status of the antivirus solution for all systems
  • Active Directory Administration
    • General System Administration
    • Group policy management
    • Maintain security permissions
    • DNS administration
    • PCI and SOX audit and compliance
  • Server Environment Administration
    • DHCP and DNS management
    • Security Management
  • Office 365
    • Migrating from on-prem Exchange environment
    • O365 Administration
    • Account creation and deletion as needed
    • Sharepoint administration
    • Experience with other O365 tool administration a plus (such as Skype, Teams and Planner)
  • Event log monitoring
    • Log review
    • Configure and maintain alerting system
  • Security response
    • Industry standards for system configuration - PCI Hardening
    • Review internal vulnerability scans
    • Certificate management - SSL Certs, application certificates
  • Software Maintenance and Audits

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with Cylance NGAV software
  • Experience with large scale Office 365 migration and support
  • Experience with O365 Sharepoint migration and administration
  • Experience supporting large-scale production environments and in compliance with PCI & SOx requirements
  • Scripting experience for task automation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with hardware maintenance and lifecycle
  • Experience with RAID, SANs, and attached storage
  • Cross-train other team members of the department
  • Tier 2 support of application issues in production, testing, and development environment
  • Gather data pertaining to project needs, and use the information to identify,
    predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, including application and network-level troubleshooting
  • Confer with company employees to identify and solve existing system problems
  • Dedicated to providing outstanding customer service to our employees, stores, and customers
  • Self-driven / Self-motivated
  • Maintains a positive and supportive attitude when communicating with others
  • Writes process and procedure documentation as required
  • Understands and abides by change control practices
  • Schedule, maintain, and participate in the on-call rotation, respond to all messages sent by NGVC staff in a timely manner, including off hours and vacations
