Job in a Nutshell:

The Bulk Production Lead position is responsible for leading a team of 12 employees in the automated packaging room. This position monitors daily schedules, efficiencies, work quality, documentation, and adherence to Food Safety guidelines. The Production Lead position provides training, vacation relief, equipment trouble-shooting, any other duties under the direction of production management; Keeps management informed of daily activities and significant issues; Promotes a positive work environment by encouraging teamwork among production crews, maintenance, sanitation, and quality assurance.

Main Ingredients:

1. Conducts daily start up tasks including preop inspections, machine setup, and material setup

2. Coordinates employee schedules to ensure production capacity needs are met

3. Arranges for, and assists with position coverage during vacations and absences

4. Participates in production process: Stages materials, operates and trouble-shoots bagging machines, operates forklift equipment, audits production records for accuracy and completion

5. Enters weekly production performance data to trend successes and opportunities

6. Provides suggestions to management for process and line efficiency improvements

7. Ensures that work areas are kept clean and organized; Keeps areas inspection-ready

8. Ensures work teams follow all SOP’s and food safety standards

9. Performs all operations in a manner that promotes safety

10. Assists in orientation, training, and coaching new and temporary employees

11. Assists in other warehouse tasks such as inventory

Recipe for Success:

1. High School diploma or equivalent is required

2. 5+ years of experience in an automated food manufacturing facility required

3. Experienced working with sanitary operating processes and knowledge of food safety/HACCP desirable

4. Mechanical aptitude is required

5. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing desirable

6. Knowledge of 5s (clutter free, efficient work environment) desirable

7. 2 years of experience in a Lead or supervisory position, preferred

8. Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and concisely is required

9. Strong communication skills working with a diverse staff required

10. Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced team environment

11. Good attention to detail; accuracy and thoroughness is a must.

12. Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate production needs

13. Must be reliable and on time every day

14. Must be able to work in seasonally warm or cool environment

15. Forklift / Extended Reach Truck experience helpful

16. Willing and able to assist in other departments as needed

17. Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel

18. SAP experience helpful

- Must be able to work with occasionally deal with heights and a congested worksite.
