Overview

Job in a Nutshell:

 

CDL Class A Delivery Drivers for Natural Grocers Distribution Center are responsible for loading and unloading trucks and making route deliveries from the warehouse to assigned stores located on the Front Range. The delivery drivers are also responsible for any return items, including pallets, recycle bales, and inter-office mail.  As needed, drivers will make deliveries to and from local vendors to deliver or pick up bulk food and grocery products.  CDL Delivery Drivers must possess superb customer service skills and a dependable work ethic.  Driver schedules are Monday through Friday early mornings with no overnight deliveries.

Responsibilities

 Main Ingredients:

  1. Deliveries and Pick-ups
    1. Loads and unloads trucks using electric pallet jack
    2. Delivers pallets with tractor / trailer to assigned stores or to carrier locations along the Front Range
    3. Picks up food products from local vendor
    4. Delivers inter-office materials including mail, small packages, and store transfers
    5. Picks up return items for the warehouse and puts away in designated areas
  2. Warehouse Support
    1. Assists with loading recycle trailers with bales and empty pallets
    2. Assists with unloading trailers in the warehouse and moving items to designated storage areas
    3. Assists with wrapping and staging finished pallets
  3. Compliance and Safety:
    1. Maintains drivers time record and daily manifest log, including pallet counts, starts and stops, standards for organic, and inter-office mail transfers
    2. Performs pre-, during-, and post-trip vehicle inspections; documents all pre- and post-trip inspections on daily log
    3. Stops and weighs in at port of entry for clearance
    4. Completes logs and keeps up to date with duty changes
    5. Attends all required safety classes to maintain CDL
    6. Adheres to company policies, procedures and warehouse GMP’s

 

Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Valid Class A CDL license required
  3. Minimum 2 years CDL driving experience required; route delivery driving experience preferred
  4. Previous forklift and pallet jack experience preferred; certification required after hire
  5. Ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment
  6. Ability to pass a background check, DMV check, drug screen and driver’s physical examination
  7. Must pass a vehicle inspection and road test
  8. Clean MVR for 5 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Requires the use of both arms and both hands with full range of motion.
  • Must be able to constantly drive a manual and frequently dive an automatic.
  • Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
  • Must be able to frequently walk, sit, and stand.
  • Must be able to occasionally use fine motor manipulations, grip, squat, kneel, bend, twist, turn, reach outward, and reach above chest as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently work outside for majority of the work shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally work in noise, cold, heat, wet/humid, with sharp tools and equipment, contact stress, dust, fumes, vibrations, and in a congested worksite.
