Overview

The Vitamin/Body Care Manager is responsible for the successful operation and profitability of the vitamin and body care departments as well as training, directing and monitoring all department staff.

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include the following essential functions, but are not limited to:

  • Customers are greeted and serviced per company standards of World Class customer service and customer complaints and returns are handled appropriately per company policy.
  • Professionalism is required at all times. The highest level of respect and integrity in day-to-day actions with employees, customers, vendors and outside contacts is required.
  • The department is inviting, orderly, clean and all displays eye appealing and adequately stocked.
  • New products are brought in regularly, top 100 sellers per department are always in stock and passive demos are conducted monthly.
  • Special orders are handled appropriately and per company policy.
  • Inventory management – maintain and monitor proper inventory levels per company standards utilizing SAP system and reports.
  • Cost of goods sold (COGS) is maintained within company standards.
  • Promptly and correctly shrinks out damaged and expired product using SAP.
  • Product is ordered from the appropriate vendor to receive discounts and maintain highest margins.   
  • Product mix is monitored and mark-downs managed per company standards.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, attend store meetings and work a flexible work schedule -five 8 hour shifts per week.
  • Trains and/or cross trains employees, assigns tasks on a daily basis, and holds employees accountable to accomplish tasks per company standards.
  • Ensures staff has adequate product knowledge to meet customers’ needs
  • Provides input to store manager on staff performance evaluations and/or conducts staff performance evaluations with store manager’s direction.
  • Assist store manager with interviewing and hiring for department needs.
  • Continually increase product knowledge through store resources.
  • Responsible for ensuring safety guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Responsible for managing tagging, facing, rotating, ordering, cleanliness, stocking, back stock and returns in the department per company policy.
  • Ensures  all in-stock products/conditions meet company standards
  • He/she answers customer questions per company standards and policies, including the use of Structure/Function statements and/or statements of nutritional support.
  • He/she works with other department managers to share staff to accomplish tasks as needed on a daily basis
  • Responsible for ensuring safety guidelines are followed at all times.
  • The Vitamin/Body Care Manager is the direct supervisor of the Nutritional Health Coach (NHC) when the NHC is performing vitamin aisle duties. 
  • NHC duties must be completed in a timely manner; book orders and book department maintenance, customer literature file maintenance, political podium maintenance, take 15s, group tours and presentations in the vitamin aisles
  • All department managers are required to fulfill leadership duties participating in the efficient and profitable functioning of the store.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of store, including the DSR process.
  • Delegates opening and closing checklist responsibilities to staff as needed
  • Monitors staff to ensure all tasks are being accomplished in a timely manner per company standards.
  • Maintains the safety and security of all staff and guests according to company policy
  • Responds to customer feedback in a timely manner
  • Completes customer returns in accordance to company return policy
  • Responds to cashier needs for manager over-rides
  • Handles register shift changes, including those for scheduled lunch breaks
  • Informs the store manager of all employee performance, successes and disciplinary issues
  • Communicates with Home Office to manage emergency situations including, but not limited to: power outages, natural disasters, facility or equipment repair
  • Partners with IT Department to ensure proper functioning of computers and communication devices

Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

 

Qualifications

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous retail experience in a grocery or retail environment; natural foods background a plus.
  • Ability to pass applicable food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by state and/or county law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date. 
  • 1-2 years experience in vitamins/supplements and/or related experience.
  • 1-2 years experience supervising others, preferred.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills.
  • Is highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay focused with the task at hand and take direction and follow through.
  • Must be cashier trained.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
