The Job in a Nutshell:

The Director of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence is a key leadership role, responsible for designing and executing strategies that leverage data analytics and AI to drive organizational growth, efficiency, and innovation. This position serves as a bridge between technical expertise and business objectives, ensuring that data-driven insights and AI applications are integrated seamlessly into decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

1.     Strategic Leadership

  1. Develop and implement the overarching strategy for data analytics and artificial intelligence, aligned with the organization's vision and goals.
  2. Provide thought leadership and direction on emerging trends and technologies in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  3. Ensure alignment between data initiatives and overall business strategies.

2.     Data Strategy and Architecture

  1. Design and optimize the organization’s data architecture to support advanced analytics and AI capabilities.
  2. Promote the integration of structured, unstructured, and big data to create comprehensive insights.

3.     AI and Advanced Analytics Development

  1. Lead the development of innovative AI models and advanced analytics to solve complex business problems.
  2. Oversee teams working on machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing, and data visualization.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI integration in organizational processes.

4.     Team Leadership

  1. Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, analysts, and AI specialists.
  2. Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.
  3. Mentor and develop team members to ensure professional growth and skill enhancement.

5.     Stakeholder Collaboration

  1. Work closely with executive leadership to translate business goals into actionable data strategies.
  2. Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, information technology, operations, and finance, to identify data-driven opportunities.
  3. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, impactful manner.

6.     Performance Measurement

  1. Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for data analytics and AI initiatives.
  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of AI solutions and analytics models in achieving business objectives.
  3. Continuously refine and improve analytics processes and AI applications based on performance feedback.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

 

1.     Educational Background

  1. A master’s or doctoral degree in data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, statistics, or a related field.
  2. Additional certifications in AI, machine learning, or data analytics are highly desirable.

2.     Professional Experience

  1. Minimum of 8 years of experience in data analytics, artificial intelligence, or related fields.
  2. At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing technical teams.
  3. Proven track record of implementing successful AI and data initiatives within a business context.

3.     Technical Skills

  1. Expertise in data science and analytics tools such as Python, R, SQL, and Tableau.
  2. Deep understanding of machine learning models, AI frameworks, and big data technologies.

4.     Leadership and Communication Skills

  1. Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire and drive teams toward achieving goals.
  2. Excellent communication skills to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  3. Ability to build consensus and foster collaboration across departments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
  • Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
  • Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to frequently to reach above chest.
  • Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
  • Must be able to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress.
