Overview

The Job in a Nutshell:

Under the direction of the Recruiting Manager, the Recruiter is responsible for forecasting, sourcing, recruiting and interviewing for positions as assigned by NGVC stores, the Home Office and the Distribution Center.  This position will assist with the implementation of recruiting initiatives that build bench strength, reduce turnover and ensure compliance with all application and federal state laws.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

  1. Provides support, training and direction to new staff members
  2. Manages new store recruiting processes to completion
  3. Develops reports through iCims to determine trends and other information to assist with recruiting initiatives
  4. Coordinates job fairs in order to source potential store level candidates in high-needs markets
  5. Identifies quality and high potential candidates for store management
  6. Meets regularly with the Recruiting Manager, VP of HR and Regional Managers to identify staffing needs
  7. Provides quality candidates to the Regional Managers for final selection of all Store Manager positions
  8. Assists Store Managers throughout the hiring process including background checks and any other pre-employment assessments
  9. Creates and presents innovative recruitment techniques, strategy and avenues including social media
  10. Reports weekly and monthly to the Recruiting Manager on staffing needs, turnover, trends, opportunities and other recruiting-related issues for his/her assigned area
  11. Coaches Store Managers on quality interviewing and selection practices
  12. Adopts stores, ensuring compliance with all recruiting and employment laws and regulations
  13. Sources for candidates using a variety of techniques including networking, advertising, job fairs
  14. Partners with Store Managers to address store level comments or concerns for better retention
  15. Coordinates training needs by communicating with the Training Manager and Travel Departments
  16. Travels up to 50% of the time on average, and as much as needed to meet company growth objectives

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

  1. High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is required
  2. 3-5 years of experience recruiting exempt and non-exempt level candidates
  3. Field retail experience preferred
  4. Strong recruiting skills and ability to identify quality candidates
  5. Strong knowledge of all relevant recruiting and employment laws and regulations
  6. Ability to work independently; self-motivated
  7. Excellent understanding of the retail environment
  8. Ability to effectively communicate with candidates and employees at every education level
  9. Proficient computer skills with ability to develop spreadsheets and reports to analyze division staffing needs
  10. Excellent collaboration and consensus building skills
  11. Strong relationship-building/networking ability and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  12. Knowledge and shared belief of Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage culture and values
  13. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks for timely completion

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
  • Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
  • Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to frequently to reach above chest.
  • Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
  • Must be able to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress.
