Overview

Job In a Nutshell:

 

The Bulk Machine Operator is responsible for the daily setup and operation of food packaging equipment at the Distribution Center.  Machinery includes, but is not limited to, bulk foods baggers and labelers.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients: 

  

  1. Sets up and adjust processing and packaging machines prior to daily operation
  2. Converts raw material into finished goods according to production schedule
  3. Completes necessary documentation for changeovers, cleaning, and product specifications
  4. Maintains standard efficiency and accuracy with machine operation and labeling
  5. Verifies all labels
  6. Maintains shift log of production and other data
  7. Records production metrics such as quantity, weight, size, date and type of products packaged
  8. Checks products for defects and to ensure conformance to company standards
  9. Maintains production machinery and performs routine cleaning, corrective adjustments as necessary, and troubleshooting
  10. Responsible for the completeness and correctness of all orders filled 
  11. Reports all problems with machinery to Production Supervisor/Lead Operator
  12. Performs all tasks in a manner that promotes safety of employees
  13. Performs all tasks in compliance with Food Safety standards
  14. Follow all SSOP’s, Allergen and HACCP standards.
  15. Cleans machines daily to maintain an organic and allergen/sanitary environment

Qualifications

Recipe for Success: 

  1. High School degree, GED or equivalent experience is required
  2. Minimum 3 years recent experience in operating food production machinery preferred
  3. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices in food production preferred
  4. Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and concisely required
  5. Must be able to meet daily deadlines
  6. Must have good attention to detail, including accuracy and thoroughness
  7. Basic computer skills required
  8. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  9. Must be team-oriented and flexible to changing demands
  10. Ability to work with others in a fast-paced team environment
  11. Must be reliable and on time every day
  12. Able to work in seasonally warm or cool environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to frequently lift or carry up to 10 lbs.; constantly lift or carry 11-20 lbs.; frequently lift or carry 21-50 lbs; and occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally push or pull up to 30 lbs. and frequently push or pull 31-50 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
  • Must be able to constantly stand, fine motor manipulation, grip, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to frequently walk, bend, twist, turn, and reach above chest.
  • Must be able to occasionally squat, kneel, crawl, and climb as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to constantly work with sharp tools and equipment and noise majority of the work shift.
  • Must be able to frequently work with contact stress.
  • Must be able to work with occasional chemicals, vibrations, and congested worksite.
