Overview

Job in a Nutshell: 

The Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for reducing losses and protecting company assets through the implementation of engineered inventory control and asset protection programs, projection of impression of control, and loss incident investigation and resolution.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

  1. Travels to stores in various markets to provide loss prevention direction, guidance, and impression of control.  
  2. Provides guidance and direction to store Crews and Store Support Center departments on Safety, Security, and Loss Prevention topics.  
  3. Perform in person audits, oversee the remote audit process, and communicate findings and recommendations with management and operations.  
  4. Provides guidance and education to upper level and executive management on how losses occur, and how to prevent future losses from occurring. 
  5. Leads LP related trainings for Store Crews, Managers, and Store Support Crew 
  6. Surfaces, Investigates, and Resolves Cases of Internal and External Loss.  
  7. Investigates internal theft via CCTV review, internal tips, exception reporting, and meta-data analysis.  
  8. Conducts interviews as part of the investigation process.  
  9. Partners with law enforcement to resolve internal theft and organized retail crime incidents. 
  10. Partners with Human Resources to investigate and resolve employee incidents. 
  11. Partners with Director of Safety and Security to help create, establish, and maintain loss prevention policy and procedure. 
  12. Reviews company shrink, sales, and incident reports to focus shrink reduction efforts at high-risk sites. 
  13. Manage Loss Prevention department email response.  
  14. Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive information 

 
Supervisory Responsibilities Including: 

  1. Assists with recruiting and hiring of Safety, Security, and Loss Prevention Crew. 
  2. Coordinates training programs for new Crew and identifies training needs for current Crew. 
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  4. Knowledge of retail operations and loss prevention strategies and procedures 
  5. Oversees the Loss Prevention mailbox and delegates workload to administrative Crew.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

  1. Must have or be able to obtain a WZ certification at the time of hire. CFI preferred 
  2. Minimum of 1-year previous retail loss prevention experience required 
  3. Minimum 1-year multi-unit management and/or 1-year management in grocery environment preferred 
  4. Minimum of 1 year of experience managing or leading direct reports 
  5. Must pass a background check 
  6. Familiar with exceptions reporting concepts, and how exceptions-based reporting works on a fundamental level from a POS systems 
  7. Understands and maintains strict compliance with the law and NGVC policies concerning loss prevention 
  8. Knowledge of progressive loss prevention methods and shrink strategies 
  9. Experience developing and implementing loss prevention programs and strategies without guidance or formal programs in place. 
  10. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  11. Must possess a friendly and professional demeanor 
  12. Must be detail oriented 
  13. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of training, public interaction, and report writing 
  14. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all situations 
  15. Ability to operate surveillance equipment 
  16. Able to work with minimal supervision, actively identifies and seeks out areas of opportunity 
  17. Able to problem solve or troubleshoot situations 
  18. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Open availability including weekends is a must 
  19. Familiar with standard PCs and business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.) 
  20. Must be able to work a rotating on-call schedule including evenings and weekends 
  21. Must be able to travel for job up to 50% required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
