Overview

The Job in a Nutshell:

The Training Specialist – Store Operations is a primary deliverer and creator of training content at the good4u University Training Center within the Golden Store Support Center (SSC). The Crew member in this role will have a high degree of understanding of all store operations, as well as advanced skills in training the customer experience and our World Class Customer Service expectations. Training Specialists must thrive on working in the spotlight, be passionate about Natural Grocers’ mission, have strong interpersonal skills, and bring both creativity and strong organizational/time management skills to their work. The Training Specialist – Store Operations collaborates with the other members of the good4u University Training Center to provide the most comprehensive and engaging training possible for new Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and Department Managers across all areas of instructional content (including inventory management, SAP, operational processes/procedures, customer service, leadership, among other topics) in classroom and live store environments. This position is fully on-site and requires 100% of the time be spent working from the SSC Golden office or in stores providing hands-on training and store support.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

 

 

  1. Develop and/or deliver instruction on the following topics:
    1. Inventory management processes
    2. Department management procedures
    3. Customer experience and CARE
    4. Safety and loss prevention
    5. Forklift safety and best practices
    6. Store management responsibilities, including leadership soft skills and the 3 Pillars of Effective Leadership
    7. SAP instruction, including ordering and receiving
  2. Own the development and creation of training programs and materials, using a variety of formats, including classroom coursework, activities, manuals, etc.
  3. Training good4u University trainees within a classroom setting, online webinar, and/or live store environments
  4. Act as interdepartmental liaison for assigned projects and curriculum
    1. Continually communicate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure accurate instruction is being provided
    2. Attends meetings with SMEs, providing feedback and insight for upcoming or in-progress projects
    3. Field and manage communications from stores regarding process questions and follow up with needed support
  1. Serve as primary asset manager(s) for GK training materials
  2. Order and maintain physical materials at the Training Center , including the Simulation Store, product samples for trainees, supplies requests, etc.
  3. Occasionally travel to Natural Grocers stores to train store management and Crew at those locations
  4. Other projects or tasks as assigned

 

Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities, all Crew are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and help the company thrive

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Minimum of 1 year NGVC experience is required
  3. Department Manager experience preferred, experience regularly using SAP strongly preferred
  4. Experience in developing training materials and/or providing structured in-person training strongly preferred
  5. Proficiency working with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  6. Experience using Publisher, Camtasia, Adobe, and/or other digital content development tools preferred
  7. Must be able to deliver content in an enthusiastic, engaging, and easily understandable manner
  8. Must be highly motivated, work independently, solve problems independently, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and be willing to collaborate as a key member of the Training Center
  9. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work confidently and cooperatively with all levels of personnel within stores and at our Store Support Center
  10. Ability to effectively present and speak in front of large groups
  11. Ability to work a flexible and changing schedule; while this is generally a M-F set schedule, it can vary due to store support needs
  12. Resourceful problem solver
  13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
