Overview

The Job in a Nutshell:

 

The Senior FP&A Analyst II will be a key contributor to investment and financial analyses, the budget and forecast processes, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, and other special projects. This position will provide support to management including preparing analyses, presentations, and other projects. This position has the opportunity to develop into a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager role by demonstrating proficiency in the activities below.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

 

  1. Provide concise, accurate, accountable, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders, including C-Suite level. Recommendations are data-driven and may heavily influence decisions.
  2. Leverage understanding of financial statements to create and maintain logically structured financial models; use best practices for data handling and model creation/evolution. Some analysis models are already well-defined, while other models will be new and/or complex.
  3. Take ownership of analysis requirements, including setting deadlines, collecting and analyzing the right data, and effectively communicating key insights.
  4. Preparation of reporting and presentation materials for delivery to senior level management.
  5. Analyzes financial performance by compiling data and monitoring trends from various data sources.
  6. Responsible for major elements of the financial close process including reporting, variance analysis, and communicating results.
  7. Work closely with Accounting and department heads during pre-close meetings.
  8. Lead meetings that communicate financial performance to Accounting/Finance, and supported departments.
  9. Provide strong business partnering and financial leadership to the supported departments; understand the business issues facing the organization and provide financial alternatives.
  10. Participate in the annual budget process and periodic forecasts, including working with department heads to determine necessary budget needs and forecast adjustments. Lead budget and forecast development for select expenses.
  11. Evaluate, implement, and refine systems and processes, including budgeting, planning, reporting, and analytical tools. Anticipate process obstacles and formulate solutions/strategies to mitigate.
  12. Participate in special projects and ad hoc analysis requests.
  13. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President, Treasurer and Senior Manager of FP&A.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; degree in finance, accounting, or economics preferred
  2. Minimum of 5 years of quantitative and/or financial analysis experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree; experience in FP&A is preferred.
  3. Experience with financial planning and analysis functions, including investment return models, budgeting and forecasting
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with analytical and financial modeling skills. Solid understanding of GL and reporting tools, and investment return metrics.
  5. Track record of owning monthly financial processes, and delivering timely and accurate results
  6. Self-driven with ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision in a deadlines-oriented environment
  7. Manager experience a plus.
  8. Prior experience supporting C-Suite preferred.
  9. Must have attention to detail with high standards of accuracy and review
  10. Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, must have advanced Excel skills including:
    1. Ability to combine and characterize data from multiple sources
    2. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to properly organize and structure model to efficiently answer the relevant business question
    3. Experience using a range of Excel functions (statistical functions, logical functions, pivot, lookup/reference functions, text functions, etc.)
  11. Proficiency with SAP and/or other ERP systems
  12. Strong oral/written communication skills
  13. Proven ability to build relationships with all levels of the organization and departments

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally push or pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to constantly use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
  • Must be able to constantly sit, use fine motor manipulations, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to frequently grip, bend, twist, and turn.
  • Must be able to occasionally walk, stand, squat, kneel, and reach above chest as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work occasionally with cold, heat, sharp tools and equipment, noise, contact stress, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
